Dorcas E. McCabe, 96, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 9, 2021 at Evergreen Assisted Living in Washington, PA .
She was born August 5, 1924 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Howard Gans Brooks and the late Bertha (Casber) Brooks.
Dorcas went to Point Marion High School. She worked as a receptionist/telephone operator for Castle Rubber Company in East Butler, PA. Dorcas belonged to a bridge club, Elks Auxiliary, and served on the Board of Directors of the Little Theatre where she also volunteered. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, golfing, and traveling. Dorcas was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Saundra McCabe Austin of Butler, PA; three grandchildren, Shane McCabe of FL, Monica (Phil) Halper of London, England, and Daniel (Laura) Clements of KY; two great grandchildren, Alex and Lynley; three sister-in-laws, Gretchen McCabe of Gibsonia, PA, Linda McCabe of Atlanta, GA and Jean Brooks of Point Marion, PA; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Joseph McCabe whom she married on December 10, 1946 and who passed away in 1993; one son, Patrick McCabe; two brothers, Charles, and Arthur Brooks; one sister, Edith Mae Brooks.
Friends will be received at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Entombment will take place in the Calvary Cemetery.
