Dorothy F. Gardner, 87, of Slippery Rock, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born October 11, 1930 in Butler county, PA, the daughter of the late Leroy Adam and Helen (McCall) Anderson.
Dorothy was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, Eastern Star Butler Chapter 45, Slippery Rock American Legion Auxiliary and active in the King’s Daughters. She was a long time member of the Advisory Board and Mother Advisor of the Meridian Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, canning, traveling and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah (James) Garrison of Hudson, OH; 2 sons, Donald (Luanne) Gardner of Rock Hill, SC and Kevin (Mary) Gardner of Fayetteville; 7 grandchildren, Todd (Rebecca) Gardner, Claire (Bob) Martus, Andrew Gardner, Brian and Jennifer Gardner, Greg (Kim) Garrison and Kaitlyn Garrison; 2 great grandchildren, Xavier and Elliot; daughter-in-law, Dr. Pamela Gardner of Lima, OH; many nieces and nephews; and good friends, Jim and Bonnie Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clair W. Gardner who died October 9, 2012, son, Dennis W. Gardner, infant son, Brian K. Gardner and 3 brothers, Francis, William and James Anderson.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 1-4PM and on Monday, from 10-11AM.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 20th at 11AM.
Interment in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
