The theft of weapons from a vehicle in downtown Butler has resulted in the recent shooting of a teenager.
According to Butler City Police, officers were dispatched to a residence on West New Castle Street on Friday for a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the right arm.
After first being reported as a robbery, police investigated the incident and eventually determined that this was a self-inflicted gunshot. Interviews revealed that this gun had been stolen along with another gun by the victim and another juvenile from an unlocked vehicle on January 25th. The other weapon is still missing.
The boy was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital and was in stable condition at last report. Charges are expected to be filed in connection with the theft after the investigation has been completed.
