Members of the community gathered this morning to honor healthcare workers for their efforts in battling COVID.
A Ring of Light ceremony was held at Butler Memorial Hospital at 6:30 a.m. Dozens held flashlights and showed their solace as hospital staff deals with a surge in COVID cases.
Pastor Kim vanDriel is with First English Lutheran Church and also serves on the Butler Clergy Network who helped organize the event last year.
“I heard it long after the fact from people and connections at the hospital who said it was just amazing, and that it gave us so much hope,” vanDriel said.
There is another ceremony scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight. If you plan on going, you’re asked to park in the Brady Street lot and bring a flashlight.
