Dr. Albert F. Timms, age 85, formerly of Harmony, PA; now of St. Barnabas Communities at the Woodlands, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, December 25, 2021, at 2am, in the UPMC Passavant Hospital following a brief illness.
Born December 4, 1936 in Homestead, PA, he was the son of the late Albert W. and Emma (Binkney) Timms.
Dr. Timms is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect where he was a member of the church session, a Trustee, and served on the committee for the renovation and addition of the church social hall, and enjoyed the men’s breakfast bible study.
He graduated from Munhall High School in 1954, Shippensburg State University B.S. Ed 1958, Westminster College M.S. Ed 1962, University of Pittsburgh Ed D 1975, and Youngstown State University Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.
Dr. Timms was employed by the Seneca Valley School Board and served as an Elementary School Teacher, Elementary School Principal, Director of Elementary Education and Assistant Superintendent responsible for student transportation and the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
He served on the Lancaster Township Planning Commission for several years, the Butler County Traveling Library Board of Directors and was on the organizing committee for the Butler County School Employees Blood Bank.
He was active in the Zelienople Harmony Athletic Association, where he served on many committees-field construction, umpire development and team equipment.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association, American Association of School Administrators, Butler County Elementary Principals Association and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
His hobbies were golf, hunting, fishing, boating, and gardening.
Survived by his wife of 63 years Lynne Timms, who he married November 29, 1958; his children Tammy (Bob) Keenan of Valencia, Carrie (Ted) Manna of Harmony, and Daryl Timms of East Lansing, Michigan; four grandsons, and two granddaughters; two sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
In the future, the family is planning a public Memorial Service, to be held at The Presbyterian Church of Prospect. Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
