Education officials in the state are trying to find ways to evaluate students’ progress following the shut down last spring.
Even though some districts are back in class, Department of Education leaders say they understand students have been hit hard by the pandemic.
Current Deputy Secretary Matthew Stem says the state is working on data collection now.
“Right now, we’re working on a project to help districts use local data they have to help guide some of their local decisions as well as to help inform us at a state level so we can direct our policies and reports in the right direction,” Stem said.
Most districts are hoping to return to full-time in-person learning this fall.
