Edward Frank Hoyt, age 70, of Butler, passed away Fri., Nov. 12, 2021, at his residence.
Born June 23, 1951 in San Jose, Calif., he was the son of the late Bobby and Mary Peterman Hoyt.
He grew up in Tracy, Calif., and attended California Polytechnic State University.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Ed served during Vietnam.
He worked for, and retired from, Lawn Maintenance Services, Allison Park.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. He also belonged to American Legion Post 945.
He enjoyed baseball, college football, and trains.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Downing Hoyt, to whom he was married for 34 years; two sons, Patrick Hoyt, of Allison Park, and Christopher Hoyt, of Butler; two granddaughters, Ariana and Isadora; two sisters, Kristi Simmons and her husband, George; and Karen Gleason and her husband, John; his in-laws, Ken, Bob, Ric, Chuck, Mike, Tom Ron, and Jamie Downing; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Smart; and his father-in-law and mother in-law, Red and Mitzi Downing.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. from All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with Reverend Dan Waruszewski officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at 9:50 a.m. at the church by American Legion Post 117, VFW Post 249, and American Legion Post 778.
Burial will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.
