Edward J. Doyle Jr., 67, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 23, 2020 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1953 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Angeline (Floccari) Doyle and the late Edward Doyle Sr.
Ed was a 1971 graduate of Penn Hills High School. He then graduated from Penn State University as an undergrad student, then received a master’s degree from La Roche College, Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a Master of Human Resources Management. He worked for Ametek for 20 years and opened Up-N-Running a Specialty Running and Walking Center with locations in Valencia and Ebensburg, PA in 2004 retiring in 2017. Ed was on the Board of the Knoch Foundation, active in the running community, coached his children’s youth soccer teams, Champion of Glade Run Lake Conservancy, and race director of Saxonburg running series. He was an avid runner, enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, fly fishing, wood carving and scrimshaw. Ed was a guitar player and a Martin Guitar enthusiast. He enjoyed fine beer and bourbon, PSU Football and Penguins Hockey. Ed loved spending time at his cabin in the woods in Bedford County with his family.
Ed is survived by his wife Carol (Truschel) Doyle whom he married on February 4, 1978, two sons, Patrick (Abby) Doyle of Pittsburgh, PA, and Kevin (Julie) Doyle of Ebensburg, PA; two daughters, Lindsey (Chris) Kelley of Evans City, PA, and Bonnie Doyle of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren, Madeline, Miles, Emmett, Caitlin and Finnegan; one brother, John (Judy) Doyle of Oakdale, PA; one sister, Susan (Thomas) Costa of Ellicott City, MD; 12 nieces; and 16 nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Denise Doyle, one brother, Bobby Doyle.
There will be no public visitation.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
