The November Presidential election is now three weeks away and deadlines are approaching for different ways to vote.
The final day to apply for a mail in ballot is October 29th in Pennsylvania but according to Butler County Bureau of Elections Director Chantell McCurdy waiting until the last minute isn’t a good idea.
“If you are tyring to vote by the mail. I do not recommend you wait for that deadline. As we know, having something mailed out and getting it back to us in a week is a really tight timeframe,” McCurdy said.
Over the counter in-person voting has begun at the election office in in the 200 block of West Cunningham Street. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow people to vote in the office on October 15, 17, 21, 23, and 25. The office will also be open for the next two Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
McCurdy also asks that people be kind in the runup to the election.
“I know that tensions are high. I know this is a big election. But, we are your neighbors. We’re your friends, we’re your family members. We’re doing this for you,” McCurdy said. “I, myself, put in a 70-hour work week just last week to get this done.”
McCurdy expects turnout in the county to be around 80% to 85%. For more information you can always go to Votepa.gov for more information on the election.
