Ellsworth C. Blystone Sr., 83, of Karns City, died early Thursday morning, October 12, 2017 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Ellsworth was born on Dierkens Lane, in Karns City, December 27, 1933. He was the son of Grover and Mary Olive Kerr Blystone. He had attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Karns City, and later attended Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian.
Ellsworth attended Fairview Twp.-Karns City Schools, and was very proud to have received his diploma under the Veteran’s DArmy Veteran of the Korean War, and served in the 25th Division, 14th Infantry in Korea, and also had been stationed at Mt. Fuji in Japan. Mr. Blystone was a life member of the NRA, and also was a member of the Chicora VFW and American Legion posts. He retired from Hilliard Mining Company in West Sunbury.
Ellsworth enjoyed hunting and fishing, building miniature oil wells out of balsa wood, and baking.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Shaffer Blystone, whom he married in Adrian on July 3, 2004; eight children, Terry A. Blystone, of Bruin, Eric V. Blystone and his wife, Judy, of Columbiana, OH, Beverly A. Blystone, of Lyndora, Victor C. Blystone, of Louisiana, Edward C. Blystone and his wife, Sharon, of Chicora, Mary A. Blystone, of Raleigh, NC, Barbara J. Larson and her husband, Art, of Chicora, and James R. Blystone and his wife, Lisa, of Parker; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Roger Blystone II and his wife, Cathy, of Rimersburg, Jody M. Blystone Sr., of Karns City, and Jason C. Blystone Sr. and his wife, Belinda, of West Sunbury; twelve step-grandchildren, and 12 step-greatgrandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.iploma Program at Karns City High School. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blystone was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Mae Hilliard Blystone, whom he married on January 15, 1954. Mrs. Blystone died March 13, 1993. He was also preceded in death by a son Ellsworth C. Blystone Jr., a daughter, Karen L. Blystone Brown, five sisters, and one brother.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home with the Rev. Vincent Edwin, pastor of the Brush Valley Brethren Church, officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia. Military honors will be provided by the Chicora, East Brady, and Brady’s Bend American Legion Posts.
