Emilio A Russo, 99, of Butler passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. He was born in Butler on April 7, 1923 to the late Nicholas and Josephine Russo. Emilio served his country honorably and courageously in the United States Army. He was deployed to Omaha Beach of Normandy on D-Day and was also a recipient of a Bronze Star. Emilio was employed at Armco for 40 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Sons of Italy, American Legion Post #778, and the Auxiliary Police. Emilio loved hunting, fishing, playing guitar, and camping with his brother Nick. He was known for his hardworking, meticulous, and jokester personality. Above all else he loved his family and grandchildren. Emilio was the beloved father of Sandra (Richard) Massey and Carol (Mark) Johnson; grandfather of Mark (Maegan) Johnson Jr, Michael (Nicole) Johnson, Doug (Colson) Mason, and Laura (Casey) McGraw. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren. Emilio was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann (Cygan) Russo who passed away in 2012 after 66 years of marriage, son Richard Russo, and all of his siblings.
