Emogene Lyon, 93, of Butler passed away on November 23, 2023 at Concordia at the Orchard.
She was born October 13, 1930 at her home in Great Belt, near Butler. Emogene was one of 17 children born to the late Margaret (Jordan) and Charles Heasley. She graduated from Butler High School in 1948, then worked at Butler Ford Motor Company. In 1951, she married the late James H. Lyon, Jr. in the First English Lutheran Church. She operated a sewing machine at Bobbie Brooks for 14 years.
Emogene was an active member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church and later Meridian Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed boating and camping at East Brady, traveling, sewing, crafts, baking, and helping others.
She is survived by her three children, Diane Mitinger of Greensburg, Kathleen (Howard) Meinhardt of Brecksville, Ohio, and James (Barbara) Lyon of Meridian; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared) Moore, Tricia (Brandon Weismann) Rombach, Laura Stybel, Leslie (Kyle) Oyler, Brooke Lyon, James “Jace” Lyon: seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Merle Heasley, Donna (Les) Downing, and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, Emogene was preceded in death by her siblings: Dale Heasley, Betty Cooper, Sara Oesterling, Charles Heasley, Glenn Heasley, Earl Heasley, Robert Heasley, Wade Heasley, Clifford Heasley, Margy Hoffman Tebay, Janet Pehrson, David Heasley, Shirley Harper, and Nancy Hummel.

Family and friends of Emogene will be received Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 3-5 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, PA 16001 with Pastor Steve Franklin and Pastor C.F. Hoffman officiating.
