Ernest S. Geibel, 93, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
He was born November 29, 1929 in Butler, the youngest son of Linus S. Geibel and Clara Waltman Geibel.
Ernie was a life long member of All Saints Parish, St. Peters Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Ernie was born in Bonnie Brook, Summit Township, Butler County at the Geibel family homestead, he resided there his entire life Ernie and retired from Castle Rubber Company in East Buter, where he worked over 35 years until the plant closed.
Ernie is survived by two sister, Dori “Dede” Snyder, and Shirley (Eugene) Widenhofer. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Laverne, Merle, Carl, and Ronny and two sisters, Pearl Hildebrand and Gladys Graham.
Ernie was a member of the East Butler and Herman fire departments, and the Butler Moose Lodge Ernie was an avid gardener, and enjoyed growing many vegetables and giving them to family and friends.
The family wants to expressly thank all the “Caring Angels” that helped care for Ernie at Lowrie Place in Butler over the last 4 ½ years. The family also wished to express their deepest gratitude to the “Caring Angels” at Concordia in Cabot and particularly express their sincerest appreciation for Bailey, his nurse and Dearest Angel and friend, who helped to lead him home to heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:00 am, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin Street, Butler, with a luncheon to follow in St. Peter’s Parish Hall. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Herman.
