A local man has entered a guilty plea in federal court to a bank robbery in Zelienople in 2018.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 33-year-old Chad Vaughan of Evans City admitted to robbing the NexTier Bank on South Main Street Zelienople.
On October 23rd, 2018 Vaughan entered the bank dressed all in black including a ski mask and gloves before demanding “big bills” from the bank tellers. After receiving just over $2,000 he ran out of the bank and drove off in a Ford sedan. Police later located the vehicle and a search revealed the clothing worn by Vaughan during the robbery.
Sentencing will take place July 7th and Vaughan could receive as many as 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
