Evelyn Gamble, age 89, of Butler, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Butler Memorial Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
Born in Butler on February 15, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Estelle Renforth Green.
Evelyn was married to William L Gamble, Sr. on November 21, 1953. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. In addition to the love for her family, she found time to volunteer in the community. She volunteered at Butler Catholic School, Cherry Tree, Tanglewood Senior Center, and the Butler Public Library. She demonstrated her creative skills working at Vavro’s Wedding Event Planning.
Evelyn enjoyed card playing, scrabble, puzzles, and gathering with her family and friends. She was an engaging conversationalist, with quick wit and humor.
She was an active member and volunteer of All Saints Parish, Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, Butler, PA.
Evelyn is survived by five children, Mary Katherine Dahl, of East Brady, Patricia M. Titler and her husband, Timothy, of Butler, William L. Gamble, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Butler, Carol Evelyn Dorcy and her husband, David, of Butler, and Linda J. Homa and her partner, Richard J. Fennell, of Butler.
In addition, she is survived by 18 grandchildren, Randolph D. Dahl, Jr., of Butler, Andrew M. Dahl and his wife, Jennifer, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Chattele L. Dahl Melnick and her husband, Philip, Sr., of Renfrew, Joseph G. Dahl, of Butler, Nathaniel W. Dahl, Sr. and his wife, Amber, of Butler, Jonathan S. Dahl, Sr. and his wife, April, of East Brady; Adolph H. Dahl, Sr. and his wife, Mercedes, of East Brady, Mary E. Inakavadze and her husband, Vache, of East Brady, Joshua L. Titler and his wife, Renee, of Sewickley, Amanda M. Gleixner and her husband, Daniel, of Sarver, Joseph Anderson Titler and his wife, Jessica, of Butler, Matthew R. Gamble and his wife, Adrienne, of Twinsburg, Ohio, William Jacob Gamble and his wife, Danielle, of Erie, Christopher L. Gamble, of Butler, Dante N. Dorcy and his girlfriend, Deanna Miller, of Butler, Amara M. Dorcy and her partner, Justice Lewandowski, of Butler, Zane William Homa and his partner, Megan Fox, of Butler, and Eric Peter Homa and his fiancée, Kirsten Hiles, of Chicora.
Evelyn is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren, Rachel L. Dahl Via and her husband, Eric, Randolph D. Dahl, III and his wife, Kelsie, Alexandra L. Melnick, Faith S. Melnick, Philip A. Melnick, Jr., Oliver C. Melnick, Nathaniel W. Dahl, Jr., Arianna K. Dahl, Abraham D. Dahl, Gabriel W.M. Dahl, Liam H. Dahl, Donald S.J. Dahl, Jonathan S. Dahl, Jr., Edna K.K. Dahl, Mackenzie J. Dahl, Cecilia A. Dahl, Adolph H. Dahl, Jr., Maddison R. Donelly, Liana K. Inakavadze, Lillian M. Inakavadze; Leila V. Inakavadze, Ella Titler, Connor Titler, Natalie Gleixner, Madeline Gleixner, Joseph Anderson Titler, II., Andrew Roy Titler, future Titler grandchild July 2022, Elena Gamble, Vivienne Gamble, Liam Gamble, and Aiden Dorcy; and one great-great grandchild, Gabriella L. Via.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Gamble, Sr., who passed away December 22, 1995; one granddaughter, Katherine Viola Dahl Donelly, one son-in-law, Randolph Dahl, Sr. and her siblings, Sara Dawson, Edward Green, Mary Manning, Robert Green, and Margaret Friel.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10 AM from St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Private entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Butler Catholic School, 515 E. Locust St., Butler, PA 16001.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.
