Bomber Days at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport to feature “ e Wings of Freedom Tour”
PENN TWP – The Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport will welcome e Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour from Aug. 16 to 18.
e Living History display will feature the WWII Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” WWII Heavy Bomber, Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcra ” WWII Heavy Bomber and North Ameri- can B-25 Mitchell “Tondelayo” mid range bomber and P-51 Mustang fighter “Toulouse Nuts.”
Visitors are invited to explore the aircraft: $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Or, visitors- may take a 30-minute flight aboard these rare aircraft . Flights on either the B-17 or B-24 are $450 per person. B-25 flights are $400 per person. P-51 flights are $2,200 for a half hour and $3,200 for a full hour. e WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR will arrive at the Airport at Aug. 16th at 2 p.m. and be on display until the aircraft departs a er noon on Aug. 18th. A food vendor and a vintage vehicle display will also be offered as part of the “Bomber Days” fun.
e display will be located in a wheelchair accessible area of the airport grounds and special accommodations will be made for anyone in need of assistance.
Any World War II veteran who attends the Bomber Days event is welcome to a $20 gift certificate to make purchases from the Collings Foundation sales items, courtesy of the Butler County Airport Authority.
