A couple events are going on out at Moraine State Park over the next few days.
First, on Saturday from 8 to 9:30 p.m. a program about bats will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Participants can see a bat condo in action and learn about how reporting bat activity can help scientists. Those planning to attend should bring blankets, chairs, flashlights, and bug protection. The restroom facilities at the church will not be open.
Then, on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. the Park Naturalist will lead a Salamander Safari outside the Davis Hollow Marina Office on the North Shore. This activity will include a 15 minute walk to Davis Hollow Creek so sturdy shoes should be worn for the walk but water shoes should be brought for the stream. Participants should also bring bug spray.
Pre-registration is required for both of these activities by calling the Park Office. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Those planning to attend should bring a face mask or covering.
