With the start of the school year less than two weeks away, a local therapist is encouraging parents to get their children ready for the first day now.
Leah Ceurvorst is with Family Pathways and she says it’s important for students to get into a routine before school starts.
“Having structure, routine, and consistency are really important things to keeping anxiety and worry at bay. It also gives students a good rhythm and routine as the day-to-day goes on,” Ceurvorst said.
She adds that despite it being mundane, it can be quite beneficial to students.
Ceurvorst says that also means trying to a regular bed-time for students so they are physically and mentally refreshed.
