Food safety experts are warning people to take extra precautions when online ordering food delivery.
Food safety specialists at Penn State say the number of people taking advantage of food delivery services during the pandemic has risen dramatically however some options are safer than others.
Officials suggest:
-Make sure food is being purchased from a legitimate operation that is inspected and with employees that follow correct procedures.
-Track delivery when ordering perishable food so that food is not left sitting outside for long periods.
-Thoroughly inspect food when it arrives to check for signs of tampering and make sure that the temperature has been controlled properly.
