The Butler Fall Festival will not be happening again this year, but organizers are planning two Community Days in its place.
“Our goal is to have the festival on Main Street. Since we weren’t able to raise the sponsorships in order to pay the police cost, the insurance, and other costs because everyone is recovering from the pandemic this year, we wanted to do something that promotes the idea of the festival without incurring the massive cost that wasn’t going to be covered,” Butler Fall Festival President Don Shearer said.
Instead, the Community Days will be held at two city parks on separate Saturdays next month. One will be at Memorial Park on September 11th and will feature food, music, and a car cruise.
The other will be September 18th at Father Marinaro with the same setup but also will have a “Skate Jam” competition.
Shearer said planning to have the festival on Main Street requires work almost eight months in advance, and that not enough sponsorship money could be secured at that time.
“We just want to make sure the spirit of the festival stays alive, but we also want people to realize this isn’t the actual Fall Festival,” Shearer said. “That’s why we’re labeling it as Community Days, it’s just that the Fall Festival organization is putting these on in lieu of the actual Fall Festival”
Shearer said if anyone is interested in sponsoring next year’s festival to reach out to their organization.
