A program that helps farms through family transitions is receiving more funding.
Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding says $300,000 has been set aside for the Farm Vitality Grant Program, which can be used when the next generation of a family takes over the farm.
“When there’s somebody that actually wants to step in and say they want to enter the process of transitioning the farm, it’s a really nice for us to stand here and be part of this conversation,” Redding said.
According to a statement from the Department of Agriculture, “the program will enhance the long-term vitality of Pennsylvania’s farms through sound business planning, efficient transitions of farm ownership, strategic farm expansion, diversification of agricultural production, and building a team of financial and technical expertise as a resource for Pennsylvania’s farmers.”
