Some local farmers are likely in State College as one of the state’s biggest agricultural events gets underway.
Ag Progress Days run through Thursday at the Larson Educational Research Center at Rock Springs, less than 10 miles from Penn State’s main campus.
Along with legislative hearings and discussions about issues concerning farmers, attendees will also hear about proposed changes to federal environmental regulations with a new administration in Washington.
And, there will be talk about the future of farming.
“One of the biggest questions we face all the time is ‘Where will the next generation of farmers come from?,'” Pennsylvania Farm Bureau spokesman Mark O’Neill said.
The federal government is always a major topic among farmers, especially now with a new administration, and a different approach when it comes to regulations affecting farmers and pollution.
