Area residents are invited out to Moraine State Park this weekend to learn more about kayaking on Lake Arthur.
An entry-level American Canoe Association kayaking course will be offered on Sunday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at Pavilion 6 on the North Shore. During the class, participants will learn about equipment, regulations, strokes, maneuvers and rescue techniques. If you are already into your kayaking, you may be wanting some new kayak accessories for your next water expedition.
All kayaks and equipment will be provided for this hands-on course. Adults and kids over the age of 12 may attend but those under 18 are to be accompanied by an adult. All participants must possess basic swim skills and be comfortable around water.
Upon completion of the class, participants will receive an ACA Skills Course Participation Card. Pre-registration is required. To sign up or for more information, call the park office.
