The director of the FBI is offering more insight into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
At a hearing earlier this week, FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed additional details about shooter Thomas Crooks. He says that Crooks looked up previous information on assassinations.
“On July 6, he did a Google search for “How far away was Oswald from Kennedy?,” Wray testified.
Wray also said that Crooks likely had a collapsible gun, making it harder to initially detect. But, the motivation behind the shooting is still unknown.
“I think it’s fair to say we do not yet have a clear picture of his motive,” Wray said.
The investigation also found that Crooks flew a drone over the site about two hours before the rally.
Police found eight bullet cartridges on the roof. Wray finally added that Crooks was not someone on the department’s radar prior to the assassination attempt.
“We did not have any information about the shooter. He was not in our holdings before the shooting,” Wray added.
