Federal agencies are warning the public about several phone scams that involve people claiming to be U.S. marshals, court officers and other law enforcement officials.
During these calls, scammers tell the victim that they will be arrested for either failing to make jury duty or identity theft unless they pay a fine.
Law enforcement says these scammers use many tactics to sound and appear credible—including information like actual names of judges, badge numbers, and more.
If you believe you were a victim of a scam like this, you’re asked to call the FBI Pittsburgh office or the Federal Trade Commission.
