Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman was declared the winner in the race for the United States Senate.
As of 5 a.m. Fetterman was in front of Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz 50 percent to 47 percent.
Fetterman spoke to supporters last night in Pittsburgh.
“I’m just so proud of the race that we ran. This campaign has always been about fighting for everyone that has been knocked down and gotten back up,” Fetterman said. “This race is for the future of every community across Pennsylvania.”
Dr. Oz also spoke to supporters last night before the race was called. At the moment, he has not conceded.
“When all the ballots are counted, we believe we will win this race,” Oz said. “We’ve been closing the gap all night and we’ve got a lot more ballots to go.”
Fetterman ran slightly behind fellow Democrat Josh Shapiro in Butler County, bringing in over 33,000 votes compared to Oz’s nearly 57,000..
