As we continue our series this week on finding a balance in life during the holidays, we look at what is considered ‘outward disciplines.’
Tracey Morgan spoke with Pastor Barry J. Keurulainen, Senior Pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church and School in Cabot. He says things like serving others, participating in worship, or fellowship by joining with others in a group are all items that can be considered as ‘outward disciplines.’
Although the outward disciples are very important, I asked him about how we feel crowded during the holiday season. Pastor Keurulainen added, “During the holiday season, it’s so easy to fall into that.” He says keys to outward discipline are worship and study of the word. The focus for your personal self, inward discipline, should be on solitude and silence.
As our series on this topic continues, tomorrow we’ll talk more about that ‘solitude’ and ‘silence’.
