Multiple crews were called to battle a barn fire overnight in the Cabot area.
It happened just before midnight on a farm on the 700 block of Route 356—which is the Thiele Farm.
Crews arrived on scene and said that the fire was at a “small mobile facility” on the farm that contained bales of hay.
After nearly an hour, firefighters were able to get the flames under control. No one or any farm animals were hurt in the fire.
Speaking with William Thiele earlier today the mass loss of hay can be devastating but the farm is insurance may cover the losses.
“We had over round 100 bales of first cutting hay we made this year in there and most of it if not all of it is completely ruined,” said Thiele. “We’re gonna wait to see what insurance will pay on it or give us for it because we obviously have insurance for a case like this.”
Neighbors have offered hay to help the Thiele family with the lost in hay but right now Thiele is just waiting.
“We got a lot of friends and neighbors offering us hay but we’re gonna wait and see what insurance does for us and then we’ll go from there,” said Thiele.
The cause of the fire is an ongoing investigation.
