In the wake of the tragic fatal fire in Philadelphia, and now one in New York, Pennsylvania fire officials are reminding people to take the right steps for fire safety.
Thomas Cook is the state’s acting fire commissioners and he says to make sure you have smoke detectors that work in your home.
“It’s a proven fact that smoke detectors increase the chance of survival should a fire start in your home. We can’t stress enough the importance of having, at a minimum, one working smoke detector on every level of your home,” Cook said.
Cook also adds that all lighters, matches, and other ignition sources should be kept out of the reach of children.
