A lawsuit has been filed against the City of Butler by a Butler City firefighter demanding payment for lost wages he would have earned if he was promoted according to city regulations.
Attorney Deanna Istik of Gilliland Vanasdale Sinatra Law Office made a filing last week on behalf of Donald Crawford requesting compensation he claims he is owed of over $35,000 including court costs. The suit contends the city passed over Crawford for promotions as well as ignored his claims of harassment.
City Solicitor Tom Breth says the city plans to fight the lawsuit in court.
“The City is aware that Mr. Crawford filed a lawsuit. Unfortunately the City has been dealing with an ongoing situation that covers a long period of time of inappropriate and unprofessional conduct from Mr. Crawford” Breth said. “This is just a continuation of his inappropriate conduct and we’ll deal with it in court.”
Judge S. Michael Yeager has been assigned this case. The plaintiff is requesting a jury trial.
