Fireflies are the focus of an event later this week at a local park.
McConnells Mill Park staff will present a program about lightning bugs from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kildoo Pavilion.
The unique lives of these interesting creatures will be explored and presenters will also discuss how everyone can help scientists by observing fireflies at home.
People of all ages are welcome and there will be a craft for children. All current health guidelines will be followed.
