Butler County is under a Flood Watch through Friday morning as consistent rain is expected to fall Thursday, and add to the already-saturated ground from Wednesday.
The National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh issued the watch for Butler and several surrounding counties- Mercer, Venango, Forest, Lawrence, Clarion, Jefferson, Beaver, Allegheny, Armstrong, Indiana and Westmoreland.
“Rain will develop this afternoon, with an additional inch of rainfall expected through tonight. With the ground nearly saturated, flooding is possible on small streams,” according to the NWS advisory. “Be prepared to move to higher ground if you live in a flood-prone area.”
The rain should taper off by Friday, but leave behind cold temperatures for the weekend.
