Flora J. Betres, age 98, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
She was born March 25, 1922 in Butler, the daughter of the late Oscar and Yole C. DelTredici Bianucci.
Flora was the owner and operator of Betres Beauty Salon in Butler for 20 years. Prior to owning her salon, she worked as head beautician at the Carlton House Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pa, for 28 years.
She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild of Saint Michael’s.
Flora was a great traveler. In addition to visiting her relatives in Italy numerous times, she traveled to South America, the Holy Land, and the Far East.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Heeter and her husband, Gene, of Lake Grove, N.Y.; her son-in-law, John Grunick, of Bethel Park, Pa.; one grandson, Gene Heeter, (Michelle); two granddaughters, Christine Owen (Michael) and Monica Yope (Chris); and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Tyler, Bryce, and Braelene. Flora’s nickname was “Mema From the Plane”.
Flora was preceded in death by her daughter, Charmaine Grunick, and brother, Alfred Bianucci. She will be missed by her friends and numerous relatives here and in Italy.
There will be no visitation, and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
