In the last week, there have been 100 more confirmed cases of the flu in Butler County alone.
According to data released from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, there have now been 375 confirmed cases of influenza in the county.
And those are only the reported cases. Historically, the number of people who have the flu is way higher because many fight the infection from home and don’t seek medical care.
The health department is classifying flu activity across the state as widespread. So far this season, there have been 32 flu-related deaths in Pennsylvania, including one pediatric case.
For recording purposes, flu season started Oct. 1.
