The number of flu cases in Butler County have decreased in the last few weeks.
The Pennsylvania Health Department is now classifying activity as ‘regional’ which is a downgrade from the ‘widespread’ classification we’d been in for several months.
According to the latest data released Tuesday, there have now been over 1,100 confirmed influenza cases in the county. There have been 188 flu-related deaths statewide this season.
The health department says flu season officially runs through May 19 and it’s not uncommon for “second waves” of flu activity during a season.
