Several local groups are coming together to distribute food to those in need next week.
A walk-up distribution will take place on Wednesday, June 17th from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church on East North Street in Butler. Organizers plan to serve 500 families with 25 to 50 pounds of food each. No cars will be permitted and those attending should bring a wagon or cart. Pre-registration is required by going online to eventbrite or calling 724-431-3748.
Then a drive-through distribution is planned for Thursday, June 18th from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Mercer Road in Butler. Organizers hope to serve 500 vehicles at this event and no walk-ups will be permitted. The Butler County Food Bank is asking everyone at these events to observe social distancing, wear masks, and follow all instructions given by staff, volunteers, or law enforcement.
