A former Pennsylvania attorney general who had to resign because of perjury has been acquitted on drunken driving charges.
Kathleen Kane was acquitted of the charges in a Lackawanna County court earlier this week. The former top prosecutor in the state had the charges filed after a minor crash in Scranton earlier this year.
According to police, Kane had failed a field sobriety test at the time, but her lawyers cited wintry and windy conditions that made the test difficult.
After the crash, Kane was taken to a DUI processing center where other law enforcement officers say they did not smell alcohol or detect impairment.
