A former Butler County woman accused of murder in Florida will have to stand trial after a judge’s latest ruling.
Kimberly Kessler was ruled competent after a hearing earlier this week. That means she will stand trial for the murder of her former co-worker Joleen Cummings, who was found dead in 2018 near Jacksonville.
Kessler’s competency has been raised as an issue a number of times since the case began. A trial could begin as soon as August, although other legal proceedings may delay the start.
