Former Butler Mayor Dick Schontz has died.
Schontz was born in Butler and retired from Butler Armco as a foreman. He served as mayor from 1986 to 1990, and then again from 1994 until 2000.
His family says he had a passion for the city and serving the public. He was also a member of Butler City Council for eight years and was president of the city Democratic Club.
Dick Schontz died Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice. He was 87 years old.
