Butler High School graduate and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Hanratty is recovering at his Connecticut home following his battle with COVID-19.
Hanratty spoke to our newsroom yesterday and said he was in the hospital for six days because of the virus.
“My temperature was up past 103 degrees, and my oxygen level was down to 85 so they had to pump oxygen in me,” Hanratty said. “I was in the hospital for six days, and then I came home in an ambulance.”
“I’ve been in quarantine in my home for two weeks. Now, I’m still at the point where I have to wear a mask inside my home for the next week,” Hanratty said.
Hanratty says he’s feeling better, but urges people to take it seriously, especially if you want to see sports resume.
“I think the more serious we are now, the quicker we’ll see sports come back and return to normal life– as normal as life can be at this particular point,” Hanratty said.
Hanratty’s high school and college football teammate Congressman Mike Kelly is also recovering from COVID-19.
