The former longtime superintendent of the Butler Area School District has died.
Dr. Ed Fink passed away last week at Butler Memorial Hospital.
The Philadelphia native moved to the county when he enrolled at Slippery Rock University. He began his teaching career at Butler in 1969 before eventually becoming the leader of the district for nearly 20 years.
Fink retired as superintendent in 2012 but still volunteered with the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation and the weekend backpack program.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at St. Peter Church at 11 a.m.
Fink was 73.
