Former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge is recovering after his stroke last week.
According to a family statement, Ridge has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.
The family added that he successfully underwent surgery to remove a blood clot.
Ridge suffered a stroke last Wednesday at his home just outside of Washington D.C.
