The former chief operating officer of the Butler Health System is pleading guilty to defrauding the local healthcare provider.
Stephanie Roskovski of Butler changed her plea to guilty Wednesday afternoon after agreeing to a deal with federal prosecutors.
During the hearing, Roskovski admitted to charges of defrauding Butler Health Care out of a range of $550,000 to $1.5 million. The prosecuting attorney said that Roskovski falsified receipts by claiming the orders were for the hospitals, but were instead for personal use. She also would get purchase orders approved by the hospital CEO and then greatly inflate the cost when sending it to the accounting department.
Roskovski served as chief operating officer from April 2011 until she was terminated by BHS in August 2017. She had worked for the hospital since 1994.
Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for early October.
Her husband Scott Roskovski was named as a co-defendent in the initial indictment that was filed in April 2019. He plead guilty to his role in the crime at a hearing Thursday morning.
The couple had both plead not guilty late last year.
