Major League Baseball Playoffs:
–The San Diego Padres scored eight straight runs to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5 last night to even their National League Championship Series at one game a-piece. Former Pirate first baseman Josh Bell was one of three San Diego players to hit a home run in the game. The Phillies had built a 4-0 lead before the Padres rallied. Game 3 will be in Philadelphia Friday night.
The Houston Astros defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 in Game One of the American League Championship Series. Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander allowed one run over six innings striking out 11 Yankees to earn the victory. Former Pirate Jameson Taillon pitched into the fifth inning for the Yankees, allowing just one run on four hits. Game Two is tonight in Houston at 7:30pm.
