Former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Dave Parker is heading to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The 73-year old Parker, nicknamed “The Cobra” will be honored along with Wampum native Dick Allen, who played 15 seasons with five teams. Parker spent 19 seasons in the majors, 11 of them with the Bucs. He won back-to-back batting titles in 1977 and ’78, and helped the Pirates win their last World Series in 1979. Parker and the late Allen were selected by this year’s Classic Baseball Era committee.
