A group of former students of a Butler native currently detained in Russia spent time rallying for his cause in front of the White House.
61-year-old Marc Fogel of Oakmont was arrested last year in Russia for possession of medical marijuana. His family and friends are asking for the U.S. to reclassify his case as “wrongfully detained.”
Yesterday, a group of his former students traveled from New York to the White House to bring attention to his case.
The rally comes after Fogel was recently transferred to a hard labor camp in Russia.
Fogel was teaching overseas at the time of his arrest.
