Frances Girard Betty, 96, of Butler, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021.
She was born July 6, 1925 in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Adeline Girard.
Fran dedicated her life to her faith, family and friends, and her trust in God guided her through life.
Fran graduated from Butler High School in June, 1943.
She retired as Purchasing Manager after 24 years of service with Butler Memorial Hospital. She also worked at R.L. Polk and the Credit Bureau.
She was a member of the Hospital Materials Management Association.
Fran was a lifelong member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild of the church. She was also a Eucharistic Minister at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 27 years, as well as the coordinator for the Sunnyview Wednesday night Masses.
Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family and friends. She hosted all holiday and birthday celebrations, cooking many of her traditional Italian dishes. Her family especially looked forward to her Seven Fishes Christmas Eve dinner and her pizelles and biscotti.
Fran’s home and kitchen were open to all, including the neighborhood kids, many of whom referred to her as “Mom”. Everyone was always loved and welcomed.
She was most proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting them and attending their school and sport activities. They will always remember her Easter egg hunts, the bunny and lamb cakes, and the love and kind words Grandma would leave with them, especially her favorite phrase, “love you bunches”.
Fran greeted all with a smile and a kind word. She cared for others and their well-being by lending a hand or an ear to listen.
She was the loving mother of three sons, Rodger (Linda) Betty, Bruce Betty, and Brent Betty, all of Butler; one daughter, Paula Kay McKee (Charles), of Butler; five grandchildren Tarah, Andrea (Ryan), Brandon (Samantha), Colin (Natalie) and Marisa; and two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Alison. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert “Pete” Girard; her sister, Marie Girard; and one nephew, Brian Girard.
She will be missed by all, but her loving ways and memories will live on forever.
“Love You Bunches.”
There will be no visitation.
