Frances M. Savannah Vavro, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Parma, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Born and raised in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Susie Betro Savannah.
Frances was a retired nurse and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She spent most of her free time doing what she loved most — serving the Lord at her church, St. Bridget of Kildare Parish.
She will be remembered by all for her thoughtfulness, dependability, and love.
She was the loving wife of the late Steve Vavro, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
She is survived by her six children, Cathleen Vavro of Parma, Stephen Vavro, Jr., of Parma, Thomas Vavro, of Parma, Timothy Vavro, of California, Cheryl Eustaquio and her husband, Joseph, of California, and Rodney Vavro and his wife, Shannon, of Parma; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five siblings, Mary Rose Sassone, of Arizona, Joseph Savannah and his wife, Phyllis, of Butler, Donald Savannah and his wife, Darlene, of Pittsburgh, Bernard Savannah and his wife, Susan, of Butler, and Debra Albert and her husband, Robert, of Butler; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Frances was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Savannah, Jr., and brother-in-law, Anthony Sassone.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget of Kildare Parish in Parma, Ohio, with Rev. Robert Wisniewski officiating.
Friends are invited to attend the committal service and entombment on Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Butler, with Deacon Mitch Natali, of All Saints Parish, officiating.
Local arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.
