Francis W. Walton, 84, of Butler passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born September 30, 1933 in Alexandria, VA., he was a son of the late Cecilia Lanigan Walton Zettle.
He was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. He retired as Lieutenant in 1993, following 35 years service. He was also a graduate of the FBI Academy.
He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler where he served as a Lector. He was a recipient of the Manifestation of the Kingdom Award and was a member of the PA. State Police F.O.P. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, #170, the Moose and the Knights of Columbus in Butler.
He enjoyed hunting at his camp in Emporium, PA and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the United States MarineCorp. during the Korean War.
Surviving is his wife, Mitzie Robbins Walton whom he married May 20,1961.
His 2 daughters, Linda (Ted) Nisbett of SC. and Kathy (C.D.) Coll of Bridgeville, PA.
His son, Gregory (Deborah) Walton of Cranberry Twp.
9 grandchildren; Ted, Heidi and Allyson Nisbett; Anne, Zoe and Francis Walton; Cecilia, Megan and Maggie Coll.
His sister, Eileen (Homi) Cooper of FL.
His 2 brothers, Terrence (Marge) Walton of TX., and Elmer (Elizabeth) Zettle of FL.
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Walton, a brother, James Zettle and a brother-in-law, Edgar Damico.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeal Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, at 10:30 am from St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 North Main St., Butler. The Rev. Nicholas Argentieri, Pastor, to officiate. Private interment will he held Tuesday at the Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 3152 Little Rd. Suite 146 Trinity, FL. 34655. A F.O.P service will be held at the Funeral Home during Sunday night visitation.
