Fred D. Thomas, Sr., 87, of Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 1, 2020 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 24, 1932 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Harry Thomas and Martha Gilbert Thomas.
Fred worked as welder at Pullman Standard until it closed in 2000. He previously worked at Morgan Management in maintenance for 14-15 years.
He belonged to the East Butler Fire Company.
Fred is survived by two sons, Fred Thomas, Jr. of , Winston Salem, SC, and Devin Thomas of New Castle, PA; three daughters, Michele (Pete) Day of Butler, PA, Val Dean (Randy) Scott of Renfrew, PA and Corinne Thomas of Butler, PA; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Nocera Leonard of Butler, PA and Sarah (Donald E.) Bortmas of Butler, PA and numerous nieces and nephews; .
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Ann (King) Thomas whom he married on December 1, 1952, two brothers and one sister.
Friends will be received at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. on Monday, July 6, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial service to follow with Pastor Ben Oesterling, officiating.
Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
